Jonathan won his heat but with competition from the bay area, failed to make the finals. 
The California relays are held in Modesto each year, this event is one of the season's first US track meets for a few of the Olympic qualifiers. Before the event, they invite many youth track clubs from northern CA to attend as well. The crowd of kids are following the current US long jump record holder, Mike Powell.
